The Assumption Gallery exhibits contemporary and modern paintings, folk art, sculptures and photographs that are produced by professional* Canadian artists. Six exhibits, running two months each, are presented each year.

Visit our gallery on the ground floor of the Assumption Place Building at 770 Main Street for a genuine and complete art experience. Gallery hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Selected artists
We meet with each artist to assess his or her request for an exhibition. The artist may exhibit every two years; however, a different collection must be displayed each time. No work will be presented that is pornographic or exploitative or is demeaning to individuals with respect to sex, race or religion.
Formal request for an exhibition
Requests must be submitted in writing, either by e-mail to Assumption Life, Assumption Gallery Exhibition Request, P.O. Box 160 / 770 Main St., Moncton NB E1C 8L1 or by fax to 506-853-5519 and contain the following:
- Exhibition request
- Description or the proposed exhibit and work
- Photos of proposed work
- Biography or résumé

Artists will be selected without respect to criteria such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, national or social origin or birth.
The Artist’s Responsibilities
1. Pay all costs associated with shipping and exhibition of his/her work.
2. Use the Assumption Gallery's existing walls and hanging system.
3. Hang and take down his/her exhibit under the supervision and, if required, with the assistance of the Assumption Life Communications Department.
4. Insure his/her own work against theft and damage. Assumption Life disclaims any liability for any damage sustained by the artist. The artist may also decide if the door of the gallery shall be open or shut to the public.
5. Be liable for any breakage or damage to the Assumption Gallery that he or she causes during his/her exhibit.
6. Provide, if so wished, descriptive cards of the works, a price list, a comment book and a biographical sketch.
7. Organize, if so wished, an opening event. The artist will, however, be responsible for its cost.
In return, Assumption Life agrees to:
1. Make the Assumption Gallery available without charge for a period of two months and permit the sale of exhibited work.
2. Provide a closed circuit TV surveillance system at the Assumption Gallery.
3. Direct visitors and those interested in purchasing work to the artist. Assumption Life will not be involved in the active sale of works. Furthermore, Assumption Life will take no commission on such sales.
4. Prepare a press release announcing the exhibit and distribute this release to local media.
* Professional artist: someone who has specialized training in his or her artistic field (not necessarily obtained in an academic institution), who is recognized as such by his or her peers (artists working in the same artistic tradition), who is committed to devoting more time to the artistic activity if financially feasible and who has a history of public presentation.
