Stéphanie LeBlanc, a third-year student in the bachelor of business administration program, has been awarded the Assumption Life Bursary for 2009. Paul LeBlanc, Vice-President Administration - Individual Insurance and Financial Services, presented the award during the 40th Annual Awards Banquet of the Université de Moncton's Faculty of Business Administration.

Through this financial $1,000 bursary, Assumption Life seeks to recognize students in the bachelor of business administration program who excel in terms of both academic achievement and community involvement. "Stéphanie is a poised and determined young woman," stated Mr. LeBlanc. "If she puts as much energy into her future career as she currently demonstrates for her studies and para-academic activities, she is sure to go far. In addition to her strong academic performance, she stands out for her leadership, teamwork and organizational skills."

Stéphanie has a long history of involvement in her community. "I sincerely believe that we should give back to the community that has given so much to us," explained Stéphanie. "That's why I invest my time and energy. For example, I help out with the Bouctouche Air Cadets because I was part of that organization myself for six years. I just want to make sure that other young people have the same chance I did to take part in rewarding activities like this." The young student also works with her local church and participates in various university activities and groups.

A Commitment to the Leaders of Tomorrow

Assumption Life upholds the conviction, inherited from its founders, that investment in education is a guarantee for the future and benefits the community as a whole. Over the years, the Assumption Foundation has awarded more than $4 million in student scholarships and donations to educational institutions including the Université de Moncton, the NBCC Foundation and Université Sainte-Anne.
