The Assumption Life Race kicked off the running season in Dieppe. More than 340 participants ran and walked the ninth annual Assumption Life Race, which was held in Dieppe on Saturday, June 6! The funds raised through this event, for the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute, amounted to $16,000. And once again, the organizing committee was overwhelmed by the response of the runners and the whole community.

"The excitement towards our race began in early spring, with runners calling to find out when our race would be held, proudly recalls Guylaine Gauvin, director of the Assumption Financial Centre and Chairman of the race’s organizing committee. What we want to achieve with this race is to raise money for cancer research while also creating a fun atmosphere for runners, families and the whole community in which to gather, and I think we succeeded on both counts."

Mrs. Gauvin was also grateful that for a second year in a row Mr. Chris Collins and Mrs. Lisette Richard, parents of young Sean Collins, were back as honorary chairpersons. She added that event organizers are always amazed at their great generosity. "For years we have been helping the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute in its research on cancer in the hope of one day triumphing over this disease, explained Mrs. Gauvin. We also wanted participants to put a human face on this disease so as not to forget the courage and strength of those diagnosed with cancer."

"It is with great pride that we are involved again this year in this fundraising activity, said Lisette Richard. It’s thanks to research that we’ll be able to eliminate this terrible disease that affects too many families."
