Jacques Valotaire Elected to Assumption Life’s Board of Directors

Jacques Valotaire of Longueuil, Quebec, has been elected to Assumption Life’s board of directors. The announcement was made following the company’s annual meeting held recently in Moncton.
According to Denis Losier, president and CEO of Assumption Life, Mr. Valotaire will prove an additional asset to the board of directors as the Company continues to demonstrate consistently strong growth.
A highly regarded senior executive, Mr. Valotaire has been a leading figure in the insurance industry over the past 30 years. Among other positions, he has been executive vice-president of ING Canada and president and CEO of ING Groupe Commerce and BELAIRDirect.
Mr. Valotaire was recipient of the "Hermès de carrière" award from Université Laval in 2002. A chartered accountant, he was named a Fellow of the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec in 1998. He holds two bachelor’s degrees in business administration from Université Laval, one in business administration and the other in accounting.
He is currently a member of the board of directors of Davie Yards Inc., the Departmental Audit Committee at Human Resources and Skills Development Canada and the independent review committees at National Bank Securities Mutual Funds and Global Diversified Investment Grade Income Trust. He also serves on the Actuarial Standards Oversight Council of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
