National volunteering recognition for Assumption Life
Moncton (N.B.), December 29, 2021 — Assumption Life has received one of Canada’s Volunteer Awards from Employment and Social Development Canada for the year 2020. The awards’ objective is to recognize volunteers and bring national prominence to the contributions of individuals, organizations, and businesses to their communities. Assumption Life has received the award in the “Business Leader” category for the Atlantic region.
“Assumption Life is proud of this national prize that recognizes the flawless commitment of our employees towards our communities. In 2019 only, our staff has cumulated more than 400 volunteer hours during work hours which shows a real desire to make a difference. Moreover, this award comes with a $5,000 donation to the non-profit organization of our choice, and we are extremely happy to donate it to the Beauséjour Family Crisis Resource Centre. Every day, this organization offers a critical service to our communities to help to victims of violence and abuse, and their services are in demand more than ever in this difficult pandemic period”, said Sébastien Dupuis, Assumption Life’s President and CEO.
Assumption Life has been supporting the Beauséjour Center for a few years and has been sponsoring their “Courage” campaign to build a new facility for individuals affected by violence and abuse.
Since its founding in 1903, Assumption Life has remained true to its purpose to make a difference in the communities. Through its social responsibility program, the company redistributes 6% of its net income to non-profit organizations. For the year 2019 considered by the jury assessing this national award, 111 organizations and initiatives received a contribution, including:
- Sistema New Brunswick that teaches music to low income families;
- The Atlantic Cancer Research Institute;
- Crossroads for Women;
- CHU Dumont Foundation’s Tour of Hope, which raises money for people with cancer.
Moreover, the Assumption Life Foundation has given more than 4 million dollars in scholarships to students and schools, including 21 scholarships in 2019 only. Finally, members of our senior management team share their experience and serve on boards of directors and committees.
With a 118-year history, Assumption Life continues to ensure the financial security of its clients through its innovative products, personalized services and community involvement. Through daily collaboration, coupled with the trust, commitment and leadership of its employees, Assumption Life offers one of the best experiences that makes a difference for advisors, clients and community members.
